All girls aged five through seventeen can join Girl Scouts. Adults also may register as Girl Scouts. The membership fee is $12 per year. Registrations can be made at any time during the year. The majority of Scout troops start in the fall. Although most troops start in September, the official Girl Scout year is from October 1 to September 30.

Every person who wants to become a registered Girl Scout must fill out a registration form. These can be obtained from troop leaders or from the Service Unit Registrar, Veronica Ayala. Girls are either placed in existing troops or assistance is provided to form a new troop.

Parent participation is a necessary (and fun!) part of Girl Scouting. Please take time to help in your daughter's troop. Adult volunteers can assist with leadership, telephoning, doing paperwork or troop finances, serving as troop cookie chairperson or troop fall product chairperson, driving, coming up with ideas, helping with crafts, camping, organizing trips, singing, leading games, doing community service projects, and more.
